Year 3 - Coral and Garnet Classes 2024 - 2025

Welcome to Year 3

Our Teachers

This year, the staff in Y3 are:

• Coral Class - Miss Dunn
• Garnet Class - Miss Egan

Our Year 3 teachers are supported in class by Mrs Hussain, Mrs Azhar, Mrs Begum and Miss Thanjin.

iPads and Online Learning 

Now that the children are taking home their 1:1 iPads, it is vital that they bring their iPad to school with them each day ready to use, with 100% battery and their charger in their bag. In addition, all children have a login to several websites which are used for completing school work and homework. To keep children safe online, they have been taught to keep their usernames and passwords safe from others. The websites used in Year 3 are below and can be accessed by clicking on the logos.

Swimming

In Year 3, all children will attend swimming lessons at Oldham Lesiure Centre in line with the National Curriculum.

Coral class have now completed their swimming lessons and will not go swimming again at Northmoor Academy. The children did fantastic, however it would be wonderful if you could take your children swimming for them to keep practising the skills they have learnt.  

Garnet class have now begun their swimming lessons and will attend these every Thursday until the end of the academic year in July. Please ensure your child comes to school with their full swimming kit when it is required and it taken home each week to be washed.

PE and Games

Children should bring their PE Kits to school on the following days:

• Garnet Class - Tuesday and Thursday (swimming kit)
• Garnet Class - Monday and Tuesday 

Reading Champions 

Your child will be bringing 2 reading books home in their bag every night. One will be an Oxford Reading Tree book and the other will be an Accelerated Reader book.  Please read with your child as often as you can.  If your child reads at least 3 times a week, they will earn a ‘Reading Champion’ sticker each week and will work towards a termly reward with Ms Beesley with all of the Reading Champions across Northmoor Academy!

Homework

In addition to reading, your child will bring home a homework book. In here spelling homework for the week will be shared on a Monday with the class and needs to be returned the following Monday morning ready for your child's spelling test that day!

Homework may also be distributed in their homework books or by Purple Mash/Teams throughout the week and will always need to be completed on for the following Monday morning.
