Oldham Music Festival

Year 3 Coral class and our school choir attended the Oldham Music Festival with a selection of schools from the Oldham area on Monday. The children had a wonderful, time taking part in some vocal warm-ups, harmonising and singing their hearts out with added actions. Well done to all the pupils that took part!

Magna

Year 3 went on our trip to Magna Science Adventure Centre on Wednesday. We had a great time exploring all the activities in the different zones (Earth, Fire, Water and Air). We particularly loved seeing the fire tornado - WOW!

Freddy Fit

There was plenty of exercise, team games and important information on how to stay healthy.

Stone Henge Art

Steel Pans

Some of Coral Class showcased there fantastic achievements in Steel pans with a quick performance for the rest of the class. We were all very impressed at what they managed to accomplish this half term.

Pantomime

We were so lucky to have the pantomime come into school for us to enjoy. The story was 'Sinbad the Sailor' and it was hilarious! Some of us even got to take part.

Christmas Dinner

Today we enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner! We wore our hats that we had made and pulled crackers with one another.

Choir at Tesco

Today our Northmoor choir went to sing at Chadderton Tesco. We were very excited to entertain the public. Many people stood and listened to our wonderful singing before moving on to do their shopping. I hope we were able to put a smile on peoples faces as big as the ones that we had!

Stone Age visitor

As part of our Stones 'n' Bones history topic, we were visited today by someone all the way from the Stone Age! Lucy told us all about what life was like for her thousands of years ago and showed us different artefacts from her time. We experimented with bones to see what tools we would have made with them, made our very own flint arrows, drew delightful cave paintings and then hunted animals with a bow and arrow! What superb shots we had!

Light and Shadows

In our Science, we are looking at light and shadow this half term. Today, we sorted light sources into natural and artificial, before experimenting with our own shadow puppets. How exciting it was!

Stons ā€˜nā€™ Bones WOW Starter

For our history topic this half term, Year 3 are studying our prehistoric past, all the way from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. As part of our WOW starter, we worked hard as copralite detectives to discover what humans ate in the past, drew amazing cave paintings under our tables and created superb hand prints to help decorate our caves. How interesting it was! 

Mother Earth is Weeping

For curriculum week, all of Northmoor are looking at the book 'Mother Earth is Weeping' and discussing the different things we can do to save the planet. Year 3 have been writing amazing acrostic poems all about the environment, and have also planted hundreds of seeds and bulbs to help nature around our school. We can't wait to see all the pollinators our flowers will attract!

Bridges

Year 3 received a very important letter from King Charles III! He asked us to build a new bridge fit for a royal, to cross the River Thames. Check out our superb structures. What excellent engineers we are!

Deadly Break-in!

Year 3 came in to a nasty shock this morning - our classroom had been broken into by a deadly intruder! The classes searched for clues before discovering it was... The Enormous Crocodile! How awful he is! 

A trip round the UK! Geography WOW starter

Year 3 have had a fantastic time on their WOW starter afternoon for their geography topic - Location, location, location. We loved learning about the 4 countries of the United Kingdom. We danced an Irish jig whilst visiting Northern Ireland, learnt to speak Welsh in Wales and created our own Loch Ness monster in Scotland. Finally, we finished in England with afternoon tea - just like the King! 

Bridges for King Charles!

Y3/4 Garnet and Y3 Coral have been excellent engineers this week! The pupils received a letter from King Charless III himself, requesting they build a new bridge for the River Thames, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. They worked in groups to design, build, test and evaluate brilliant briges that were fit for a royal! 

Y3 Local Area Walk

This half term in our Geography, Y3 are studying 'Location, location, location!' We are learning about where we live in the world, and finding out all about our local area! As part of this, we explored Oldham town centre to discover what different human and physical features we could see. 

Magic money!

Crafty crocodile breaks into Year 3!

On Monday morning, Coral and Garnet class were horrified to find their classrooms destroyed! A deadly intruder had snuck in and wrecked the rooms. The children bravely searched for the classrooms for clues and discovered it was the Enormous Crocodile! The police believe he was either seeking revenge or looking to devour juicy children! 

WOW Starter: Location, location, location!

Year 3 had a wonderful time on their WOW Starter day, taking a tour around Great Britain! We danced an Irish jig in Northern Ireland, learnt the Welsh 'head, shoulders, knees and toes', learnt all about the Loch Ness monster in Scotland and finished the day eating delicious scones in England for afternoon tea! How fantastic it was!
