We are learning about important people from the past and how they changed history. We have studied local woman Annie Kenney. She was a leading person in the suffragette movement - trying (and eventually succeeding) in gaining votes for women.
We walked to the Annie Kenney statue in Oldham town centre. We marched around the statue, just like she would have done on her campaign marches. Then we held up our placards and marched through Oldham shouting our messages! For example "Everyone is equal", "Votes for women", "Be kind". We had a fantastic time!

We are learning about important figures from the past and their impact on the world. We came into our classroom to find clues as to who we were learning about; a dirty hospital, pretend rats, pretend dirty bandages, a nurse uniform and a lamp. We then acted in role as Florence Nightingale.

We have been learning about Islam and how people pray. Some of our children brought in their prayer beads and explained how they use them.

As part of our topic all about The Space Race we met and interviewed Neil Armstrong! We also designed and made our own Space Buggies and acted out the Moon Landing.

To start our new topic - I is for India we did lots of fun activities. We listened to Indian music, learnt a Bollywood dance, tasted mango juice, tried Indian snacks and made lotus flowers.

Year 2 have been making moon buggies as part of our Space topic. We designed our buggies, thought about what materials we would need and then created our masterpieces!

To introduce our Countryside topic Year 2 took part in a WOW starter. We talked about what we might find in the countryside and focussed on farm. We then tasted some delicious food that may be found on the farm. We tried cheese, blackberries, blueberries, yoghurt and bread. Why not ask about what your children know about food from a farm?
Year 2 visit to Smithills Farm

Year 2 had a wonderful day at Smithills Farm. We rode the donkeys, went on a tractor, fed the animals and saw cows being milked. We had lots of fun! Why not ask your child what their favourite part of the day was?
